Description
Main objective (2018 – 2026): Water supply and wastewater disposal are a central task of public services of general interest for all people and are managed sustainably.
Overall objective
The project contributes to improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of small and medium-sized towns in South Asia by reducing the health and environmental risks associated with inadequate municipal WASH supply. It also contributes to sensitising the WASH sectors to climate change and gender equality.
Project objectives:
Disadvantaged population groups in small and medium-sized towns in India,
Nepal and Bangladesh have access to improved municipal services in the WASH sector, which also integrate the critical issues of climate sensitivity and gender equality. The chosen approach consists of 4 components:
• Replication – proven, integrated and decentralised solutions and instruments are replicated
• Innovation – new, integrated and decentralised solutions and instruments are demonstrated and tested
• Integration – Gender equality and climate sensitivity are integrated into the planning and delivery of WASH services.
• – Dissemination – The small town development agenda and project-funded solutions and results are disseminated and progressively mainstreamed into state and national development agendas.
