WaSH`n`soul Phase 2, Africa

Overall goal:
The WASH’n’soul Phase 2 will support the Ministry of Education and other sector develop-ment partners by developing an appropriate and scalable model for improved WASH ser-vices and infrastructure at schools. The project subscribes to the national target for WASH in Schools in Zambia and works in line with the MoE’s WASH in Schools National Standards (2020). To demonstrate the effectiveness of an approach that holistically addresses WASH challenges at schools, the project will be implemented in 10 peri-urban areas of Lusaka.

Project goals:
1. Strengthen institutional capacities for sustainable management and operations of school WASH services and infrastructure at school level,
2. Improve WASH infrastructure including on-site wastewater management solutions and good Operations and Maintenance (O&M) at school level,
3. Promote and integrate improved health and hygiene practices at school level,
4. Facilitate knowledge exchange and capacity building among district and municipal level decision makers on results and ‘good practice’ examples from the project.
